Information

Fall protection

A fall protection is indispensable for each case of work on a roof or on a building. Innotech Arbeitsschutz GmbH offers in the range of fall protections a huge product range for working on claddings, flat roofs, roofs, ladders, frames, crane runways, etc…

Fall protection on rails Fall protection on flat roofs

A special type of the roof fall protection affords the rail protection for
constructions with flat roofs.  Based on legal requirements, these rail protection has the absolutely precedence compared to anchor points or life line systems.
The “Barrier” rail allows the people on the roof, to come closer to the operation range, without any additional protection, by rail protections. Therefore it will be the simplest and at the same time the most secure version of a roof fall
protection.

Collective protection devices (e.g. rails, parapets, balustrades, roof grades)
have the absolutely precedence compared to rope up protection.

Fall protection on roofs

Fall protections on steep roof, flat roof, standing seam roof, metal industry roofs like “Zambelli”, “Kalzip”, “Interfalz”,” Domico” etc., secures the fall from a height during work on roofs.

These include horizontal lifeline-systems as well as personal protective equipment (full body harness) and anchor points, at which the lifeline-system can be fixed.  In professional application short-term maintenances can be used securely.

Work protection

Work protection is a protection against working safety and health hazards.
Innotech strives for the goal to make work completely safe.
The work protection includes the avoidance of working accidents and
respectively the decrease of their consequences (e.g. the duty to wear
helmets, safety shoes, PPE, etc.).

Innotech Arbeitschutz offered also personal protective equipment against fall from a height. Such protective Systems are appropriate for working on roofs, surfaces of constructions, industrial enterprises, etc…

Work safety

Work safety should assure the safety of the employees during the work, should demonstrate hazards and should safe security gaps.

Roof protection

Fall protection on steep roof, flat roof, standing seam roof, metal industry roofs like “Zambelli”, “Kalzip”, “Interfalz”,” Domico” etc., secures the fall from a height during work on roofs. These include horizontal lifeline-systems as well as personal protective equipment (full body harness) and anchor points, at which the lifeline-system can be fixed.  If applied correctly short-term maintenances can be carried out securely.

Anchor points

Anchorage points offer a stationary fall protection to persons with personal protective equipment, for example on roofs, claddings, windows or in the industry. Roping up at the anchorage point (“Securant”) will primarily assure the necessary fall protection as well as a huge free moving space.
Furthermore anchorage points offer the possibility, to secure dangerous zones on the roof, which can’t be integrated in the horizontal life line system, due to local conditions.

Anchorage points are available for many different working conditions: For inclined roofs, steep roofs, different foundations like wood, concrete, trapezoidal sheet or steel.

Personal Protective Equipment

Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be used, for example, for working in fall-endangered areas, to avoid or to minimize physical injuries.  Especially on the roof or on diverse construction surfaces right equipment according to respective standards is very important.

Furthermore protective equipment is used in the fields of agriculture, silviculture, firefighters, civil protection, manufacturing shop, the industry and the building industry.

Moreover the protective equipment could be an essential support in the free time or in many kinds of sport.

Horizontal life line systems

Horizontal life line systems are for roping up persons wearing personal protective equipment work on roofs and claddings. The biggest advantage of the horizontal life line system compared with single anchor points is especially the easy application, which assures a continuous and pass-through fall protection.

Furthermore the Innotech-Arbeitsschutz GmbH offers different components to fit the horizontal life line system to nearly every roof or cladding type and Innotech has the possibility to create individual protection systems on different foundations, because of our high-quality products, which are specified by our own development department.

Situations with risk of falling should be avoided generally. Therefore restraint systems should be planned.  In fall arrest areas, the free fall should be kept to a minimum. If somebody falls into a fall arrest system, life-threatening injuries can be expected to occur.

Fall arrest systems include the following hazards:

•    swinging drop
•    sharp (building) edges
•    cable deflection
•    to bound/to bounce

Planning basics

Working on roof areas counts to the most dangerous activities. Short term maintenances or elimination of faults, especially in the case of bad weather, are often required. The clearance of drain, wide open dome lights, and snow conglomeration are examples for extreme situations in combination with a high fall hazard in the overall roof range. These fall hazard consists of a fall from or through the roof (drops through a roof opening or the slipping from the roof area -even with a low inclination). The described dangers are already considered in the planning of the construction. It should be note, that the collective protection devices have precedence compared to individual safety measures, e.g. personal protective equipment against fall from a height (fall arrest systems).

Personal protective equipments also include anchorage devices, which are used as an element of the system to fix the PPE on the roof area to avoid a fall from the height. The right selection of durable anchorage devices on the roof area depends on the types and application of the anchorage device considering the specifics of the roof area.

This planning proposal provides assistance for situations at which the evaluation of the possible measures by the planning of each building leads to an application of individual safety measures. The planning basics are also used whenever existing constructions and technical or organizational solutions are not longer possible. This brochure supports the builder as well as the planner and also the user of anchorage devices on flat roofs and steep roofs.

“National regulations remain unaffected on such commendation. As far as these proposals deflect to the national right, the user is taking the total legal risk.”
